Starting 2019, Mara has photographed youth sports organizations in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood. Organizations such as UCAN, NLARA, Boxing Out Negativity, and Endless Energy Sports, work together to provide mentorship and skill development for elementary through high school-aged kids.

Upcoming work includes a short film about the Junior Go League, a basketball program that, due to COVID-19, is entirely virtual.
